I was pissed off, because I didn't save in a while. I don't even know if I ever found the same dungeon again, because in Morrowind map was shit and most dungeons looked pretty much same. At high rank, queuing for a match meant waiting 5-20 minutes depending on the time of day, so obviously I would alt-tab out of the client to browse the net while in queue. Because the client would sometimes fuck up and fail to push the window to the top when the queue triggered, I developed a habit of tabbing back to the client every now and again to make sure it was still going correctly. Once I had been playing for awhile and putting so much focus into the game, I started to notice that I would tab back into the client a second or two before the queue finished. Sometimes it would be so close a thing that it would pop at the exact moment I tabbed back to the client. It didn't happen every time, but it was happening several times a day. I'm entirely convinced that I developed a precognitive sense of when the queue was going to pop. It does line up with the research that has been done on the presentiment effect. >> Anonymous 01/08/21(Fri)13:21:44 No.27284184▶>>27284705 >>27287421 >>27284123 More recently, I wrote a discord bot that replicates the synctext program devised by Herb Mertz and spoken of in the book he wrote about his experience at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research lab and trying to develop commercial products based on their study of the phenomenon of psychic influence over random event generators, "The Selection Effect." The basic idea is that because we know humans can skew the results of random bit generation in a small but statistically detectable way, we can set up a program that can randomly send us messages from a preset bank of phrases with the notion that our knowing about the system will influence it to send us messages that are relevant to the moment in which they are sent (thus, a synchronicity). So I built a bot using my RPi's hardware RNG that could randomly send messages related to raiding in WoW classic. For the few weeks I was using it after the release of BWL (before BWL went on farm and became non-interesting), I was getting some bizarre results like 'epic loot' messages at the exact moment the master looter moved loot I'd won to my inventory or 'nice job' messages so perfectly in alignment with the raid leader praising us by telling us we'd done a nice job on a boss that I was reading the words of the bot's message as he said the same words. >> Anonymous 01/08/21(Fri)13:29:31 No.27284254▶ >>27280822 [pirates caribbean] I'm the original guy you responded to. I could play any of the other supports on par for the rank, but I'd played so much sona in seasons 1-3 that it was entirely on another level where I could dominate lane 1v2 and turn counter matchups into easy wins. My go-to champ if sona was banned or I was feeling the need for speed was janna, with whom I used a movespeed rune + mobi and spooky ghosts build to show up all over the map at mach 1. The system has the ability to send a message at a random time, selecting one of the phrases randomly. You get "false positives" at a steady rate that depends on how high you set the bar for the probability threshold, but the point is to make it so that the odds of getting any specific message moment to moment are low so that way getting a relevant message at the perfect moment is highly unlikely. In theory it would be possible to generate the entire message randomly, but I think practically it would turn out to be a mess. Research on psychic influence over REG/RNG suggests a low effect size, so it seems like a fully random message being coherent and relevant would be such a low probability event that even with a push to skew things in your favor you'd be waiting hundreds of hours for it to ever happen. >> Anonymous 01/08/21(Fri)16:17:57 No.27285614▶ >>27269513 (OP) >play DCSS, it's a roguelike >get sent to the abyss >the abyss is a constantly changing infinite zone >you wander until your character dies or you find a gateway out >get random thought "it's this way, I can feel it" >5 steps in that direction, exit portal >> Anonymous 01/08/21(Fri)16:20:40 No.27285632▶ >>27280649 [kakariko] was it this area? https://youtu.be/49-lfL31dyQ [Embed] there's no man there, but the area itself might be what you're thinking of at least in part >> Anonymous 01/08/21(Fri)17:23:06 No.27286015▶>>27286995 File: 57133839_2109305635791454(...).jpg (24 KB, 500x500) 24 KB >>27269513 (OP) I know there are things that happened in-game that spooked me out, but I can't think of any of them right now.
