Pop music is a fake gloss over a fake illusion, made to make a fake person. The music you listen to inflences your brain structure. Now the research I've seen says sort of the same but the opposite, that a person likes the music they like because the structure of neural connectivity in the brain. It's obvious though if a person that does not typically listen to modern pop that the melodies and lyrics are engineered to aggressively rewire you in a slightly narcotic, but anxiety-ridden box of 'contemporary life' and vapid shallow behavior. The melodies reflect the robotic nature of overwork, the 'fun' face that's hiding emptiness, and shallow expression that blurs the line of milquetoast and daydream. The lyrics program you to explain this feeling. Now if you listen to modern pop, you probably listen to it all the time. The pop fan's attention is not centered on having any sort of personal experience with the music, but as a backdrop to their (uncoincidentally) programmed routine. The lyrics are their to program and rationalize their inner landscape. The lyrics are... yadda yadda... degenerate shit. You know the rest. If you want to know the psyche of the average NPC, or in other words, want to know what the industry and state wants their consumers to be, all you need to do is pay a small amount of attention to what they tell you is popular.
