>> Anonymous 12/30/20(Wed)21:12:20 No.120000700▶>>120001444 Someone was just saying something similar on a political discussion board about Rock music with young people vs rap. He said the following: >Rock is dead, over, annihilated. No one under 25 listens to any rock or alternative music. I responded: While I (unfortunately) have to concede that, I also have to say that music in general is less important to younger people than it was to Gen X’ers like me. It’s not like Gen Z'ers are running to hear the latest song by whoever like we did. Most of them have other forms of entertainment that seem to occupy their time. I can’t picture these kids today just laying in bed listening to whoever’s new album. They would be on Tik Tok or what have you. At most, music would just be background noise. Someone also postulated that music-based subcultures in general seem to be dying. ===== I kinda noticed the same. But the culture and industries have changed. I'll say past music sounds better. Even old songs from decades past, that I have NEVER heard before, they can really be bops. Because back then, they relied on SKILL, not post production, not sampling, not remix, not getting drunk and being in huge crowds with house music pumping and the "peer pressure" working its magic. peer pressure is what makes people laugh at jokes. someone says an equivalent to "no soap radio" IRL, but it's a lame joke, people giggle and everyone who'd find the joke unfunny just laughs, because they're in a group. you'll see this time and time again. new music sucks, for the same reason internet and VG suck now. they don't "need" skill, they just regurgitate the works that were made in the past. nothing new under the sun. NOTHING. NEW. - jan 2021
