~ nov 2020 = >PokeGods Mythical legendary powerful Pokémon which were hinted for ceaselessly by players of the original games. They never existed (or did they) but that didn't stop them being extensively researched and catalogued >PokeGods Those were half correct, though. The index table that holds Pokemon in the game's data is actually 190 entries long. That means that we're missing 39 possible Pokemon from the game. Trying to call up data from those "empty" slots is what makes Missingno and the other Glitch Pokemon show up. But they aren't really glitches; they're what's left of thost 39 Pokemon. Missingno was suppose to be some sort of wishing bird that gave you more an item of your choice if you beat it (hence the item duplication "glitch") A lot of glitch Pokemon have moves that autocrash the game because they were suppose to activate something specific that's no longer in the code. === Back in like 2015-ish on DeviantArt, I just searched "missingno" for fun, and found a whole bunch of very consistent drawings of a fourth pokemon g1 legendary bird. this one was purple and orange, and hung around the Cinnabar coast. apparently a dozen deviantart users decided to have an art jam around drawing missingno as a bird. after all, it has the cut "bird" type, and two water guns. - jan 25, 2021
