July 2020 ========= On exposure to video games limiting perspective. Video games are limited designed experiences. Every single possible interaction in a video game is deliberately programmed in. (Though combinations of interactions can produce unintended and unexpected results). Also interactivity is limited. If you could just shovel some dirt into a mound to reach an unreachable platform it'd break the game design. And to keep the game flowing and easy to control the character needs to automatically do things. Just a button press to swipe a sword instead of being able to finely control it. More to the point the path through the game is explicitly designed, and to progress you need to follow that path. In real life they constantly push self destructive paths and say they're the only path forward. That if you don't go to school you'll be an incompetent hobo, and if you don't go to university you'll be a loser stuck doing menial labor. Like how in video games you can only get an ability by completing a specific task. =====
